Bear Pride Flag

  • Bear Pride Flag
$9.99

Bear culture is a part of the gay community. What exactly constitutes a bear depends on the bear you talk to. Some say you have to be a manly man (who happens to be gay) others are more inclusive in their definition. The flag was created in 1995 by Paul Witzkoske for a project started by Craig Byrnes as part of an undergraduate degree in psychology. The layout is reminiscent of the Leather Pride flag which was adopted in 1989. The colors, from brown to white and then to black represent all the many colors of bears around the world. This is to represent the inclusivity of all. The bear print states "bear" clearly in the top left corner.
